A Vietnam-based business-owner had some very specific requirements for his savings and investments.
Our client has lived in Ho Chi Minh City for a number of years where he runs a profitable small business. He banks the business’s takings locally, in VN Dong.
He wanted to be able to invest a lump sum in US Dollars as well as a mechanism to invest the Vietnamese Dong business profits into a US Dollar-denominated savings plan that provides easy access to his money for his beneficiaries in the event of his death. He’s also thinking ahead and would like to repatriate some of his money to Australia to build up a lump-sum to fund his retirement in 5 to 10 years.
Although that might sound like a complex requirement, the life assurance product that we identified is one simple product that provides for all three of his requirements.
It allows him to export VN Dong for its purchase. It will also give access to high performing offshore funds in order to maximise the his pension fund whilst providing for quick and straightforward transfer of his assets to his family should the worst happen.
